Could this $6 million makeover rescue NSW’s forgotten schools of arts?

A revised proposal to build two independent theatres and three artists’ studios, with a ground floor cafe and theatre bar, is to be lodged with Inner West Council by year’s end.

The new $6 million Newtown Arts Club would include a 40-seat black box space designed for comedy nights and ensemble music groups and the upstairs ballroom, a 200-seat theatre on par for size with the Old Fitzroy, Hayes and New Theatres, with a removable stage.
